Crappy birthday Nutscrape 4!

Web standards evengelist Scott Andrew has gone off on one to celebrate the fifth birthday of Netscape Navigator 4.0.

Personally I’m not so sure it’s worth celebrating – Netscape 4.x has been the cause of many sleepless nights for many web designers/developers over the last five years. I remember thinking when IE 4.1.1 came out; “Asta La Vista, Netscape!”

But no – it wouldn’t smeg off and you still get the occasional Amish web surfer around today who insists on sticking with this god awful piece of software. For me, NN 4’s tenth birthday cant come quick enough – by then it should be nothing but horrible memory.

Game On

Badly Driven

I don’t know how I forgot to mention this, but I played TOCA Race Driver a couple of weeks back when I was at this sports car show thing. Well, it was pants – framed out like the renderer was gulping down virtual Night Nurse and the control was just terrible.

The cars had all the weight of an airfix equivalent and it was just a very crap game to play, to be honest. I’m a bit pissed off about it as I was really looking forward to it.

I’ve started playing Gran Tourismo 3 again, courtesy of Cedrick, and even though I think the AI is absolutely pathetic, the car handling is so sweet in this game that I can almost forgive it.

Almost.

Who’d have thunk it?

Weird.

Seriously weird.

Apparently, this site ranks in the list of “all time hottest geeky urls” at texting.com. Honest – it’s here – and I’m not sure how it happened, either. I had no idea this was a geeky site. I know that I am a bit of a geek, but I had aspired to producing a non-geeky site.

Still, you live and learn.

Oh – hey – did anyone see that php has overtaken ASP as the most used server side language? Now that’s really cool. And ironic that I should mention it here on this hip and ungeeky site, don’t ya think? ;o)
