Wimbledon 2007 in HD

I was pleasantly surprised when I got home to find that Wimbledon was being broadcast in High Definition on BBC HD. There was only the choice of one match, but at least it was someone of the quality of Federer disposing of first round fodder.

Sadly, now that the rain has come, they’re showing last year’s final in standard definition, but I’m looking forward to watching more quality tennis in HD over the next couple of weeks.

It’s the occasional treat like this from the BBC that almost makes the license fee worth the money. Almost.

  1. Heh! I see, like me when I got my new TV last year, you’re watching a lot of movies with it. 🙂

Our HD content comes via Sky – otherwise there wouldn’t be any. To be honest, if it wasn’t free with our package I wouldn’t pay for it – there’s just not enough content right now to warrant it. I had my hopes up when the Indy 500 was broadcast in HD in the ‘States, but then in Europe they only broadcast it in standard def.

Looks like there’s still a long way to go before my TV gets to regularly flex its HD muscles.
