The big picture

Crazy Uncle John sent me this picture of myself and cousin Iain enjoying a drink in the Clyde Bar, Helensburgh at xmas time just gone. For some reason I cant remember this picture being taken, although that is me on the right so there must be some truth to it.

Anyhow, the original picture is much bigger and gives greater appreciation of the size of my beer belly. Which is why I made it smaller for putting here. No need to flaunt it, y’see.

Thanks to Crazy Uncle John for sending the picture on – judging by the quality, I’m sure he could have another sideline in the making as a wedding photographer (maybe!).

Cyclepathic

On Saturday myself, Kieran, Ele and Fliss set out to prove that cycling from our house to New Brighton via the Mersey Ferry would be a fun thing to do.

We were half right. The journey there was a piece of cake – a really enjoyable ride along the banks of the river… with the wind at our backs. Turning around and coming the other way it was a complete and utter slog and I had had just about enough by the time we were waiting on the return ferry journey.

The final leg felt like absoute torture – not a word was spoken as the common grimace of discomfort led us gingerly back the way we had came.

As Kieran so intelligently put it on the way back “next time we do a hundred yards in each direction at the start so we can tell what effect the wind will have!” If only he’d had those pearls of wisdom before I gave myself John Wayne style saddle sores.

Anyhow, with the first big-ish cycle of the year out of the way, I’m almost positive that the grand plan of returning to fitness is well underway. =o)

Almost better

The bad cold is finally starting to ebb away – and not before time I can tell you. This kind of thing is the reason I take multi-vitiamins and an extra vitamin C every day of the week. I hate being ill with a vengance!

Not that you can get particularly vengeful against snot, but you know what I mean.

I’m aiming to be ship shape again for the weekend so that I can get on with my master plan of returning to fitness by summer. And none of your half assed fitness – we’re talking running up flights of stairs without being out of breath here!

Sadly due to the current health speed-bump I have to miss five-a-side tonight. The game has come too early for me… as my cliché spouting manager would tell the media… although I hope to make my full return next Thursday as part of my ongoing fitness regime! =o)
