A New Detroit

This morning I watched the most recent CNN podcast, which contains a segement on the plight of Detroit and the American auto industry. Turns out that if you build gargantuan, fuel guzzling SUV’s whilst your competitors build cheaper, smaller, more economical alternatives then your business model leaves you on the brink of disaster. Who knew?

Aside from Honda, Toyota, and the European arms attached to those Detroit megacorps, I mean?

Bad Egg

I’ve just been refused a mortgage payment break by Egg because our circuimstances fail to meet one part of the criteria – our house has not gained as much as expected in value since they gave us the mortgage.

For some reason, being a loyal customer for almost a decade, never missing a payment on my Egg Visa card, paying off and never missing a single payment on two seperate Egg loans, and never being late with or missing a mortgage payment in three and a half years do not count enough in my favour for them to allow me a two month payment holiday.

What the hell is that all about?

Would they rather I spiral into a complete financial disaster to the point where they move to repossess the house?

It would seem that that is the case.
